Born in Bologna, Michael studies theology in Paris, where he writes his Sentences commentary, Quaestiones subtilissimae et facillime disputatae…in quatuor libros Sententiarum explicitae, and in 1371 the catalogue of masters in Bologna lists him as ‘doctor’. He’s chair of biblical studies at the University of Bologna, where he will spend the rest of his life, until Nov. 16, 1400.
